You may have noticed that things around here a looking a tad different than they used to. I decided on a little face-lift for the website. Nothing earth-shattering from a design standpoint, just a few things I wanted that the previous theme couldn’t give me, specifically the full-width content option (as if this blog really needed to take up more of anyone’s space than it already did). It’s still a free WordPress.Org theme (love that), as I’m nowhere near being able to justify paying for a website at this point.
You may also notice a new button on the right sidebar. A while back I joined my friend/uncle-in-law/mentor’s online strategic design and web development consulting firm, Blindspot Advisors, as a freelance copywriter. The firm does some great work re-inventing company websites and making them proper marketing tools, as you can see on their portfolio page.
It’s been a fun side-project, and probably the perfect complement for a stay-at-home parent like myself, who needs to be able to work weird freelance hours and conduct business between diaper changes and trips to the playground. Most important, it’s a great outlet and challenge for this writing hobby of mine.
If you know anyone whose company website doesn’t begin to do justice to their actual business, it’s definitely worth sending them over to Blindspot.
