We stuck around DC this past weekend and despite our best efforts managed to pack it full of noteworthy events, including trips to see a free children’s play at the Kennedy Center (highly recommend, seriously cant believe we’ve never done that before), enjoy our neighborhood’s newly remodeled playground (with SPLASH PAD!), and had a total tourist day to see the Sculpture Garden, the National Gallery of Art, the Hirshhorn and the Museum of Natural History. We actually managed all that after a night in which our little apartment slept eight people, four of which are children 3 and under. Somehow.
But the weekend really kicked off Friday afternoon, with the real-deal final closing on the sale of our old apartment. You might remember the condo from various closet-conversions fame or from the chalkboard backsplash I painted just before we moved out. We remember it as our first real home, the place we lived when Loren was born, the place where we began to grow our family. But the deal is done, it is officially someone else’s property (though I’m sure they will be getting lots of our mail for the indefinite future…). I hope they love it as much as we did.

In other news (because I promised to keep you updated and because I’d like to keep track of these things someway), the foundation for the Camp D “bump-out” is complete, the entire first floor tiling is no longer and half our house is without siding. I’m told the contractors expect to begin framing the bump-out this week, if they haven’t started already.
Armed with this knowledge and a little bit of Gin, Natalie and I finally pulled the trigger on the gas stove range and combo double oven that we’ve had our eyes on since this process started. This thing is so awesome I don’t even know where to begin.
Finally, Loren starts pre-school next Monday. Please excuse me while I go someplace private to hyperventilate for a little.
